December 12, 2005 This year marks the 20th Anniversary of the Arrow Air Disaster. Canadian and U.S. military personnel and dignitaries joined local residents in paying tribute to the 248 soldiers and eight civilian crewmembers who perished on the morning of December 12, 1985. Ceremonies to mark the occasion included an ecumenical service at St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, followed by a wreathlaying at the Silent Witnesses Memorial on the site of the crash, overlooking Gander Lake. An informal reception was held at Gander International Airport following the morning's program.
